Federation of Malaysia Federation of Malaysia

Malaysia is a federal constitutional monarchy of 13 states and three federal territories in two distinct regions: Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia on the island of Borneo. The national capital is Kuala Lumpur, while the federal government seats in Putrajaya, south from the megapolis. The government and the legal system is based on the English model.
In the last 50 years, Malaysia achieved one of the largest economic growth in the world, counting an average 6,5% GDP growth per annum. In the first phase the economy was driven by exploiting the country’s abundant natural resources (from oil to hardwood), but around the millennia Malaysia was able to transform its economy to a higher value-added manufacturing model, and now it’s ready to step forward to an innovation-driven high-tech industrial phase.
